Lunar Phases
These paintings are inspired by the Moon, her physical look and "changes" of that look, which we call Lunar phases.
Two visions of the Moon are intertwined - the Moon as a sky object, and Moon as the mysterious being which perhaps has its own soul...
Since there is a subtle connectedness between humans and the Moon, I took advantage of that fact and depicted a portrait of the Moon, or rather her inner life - through human attributes. I studied people's characters and moods, and then interpreted them through my own coloristic language. I aimed to translate "visually processed" psychological states of humans, into a different context, using the Moon and her roundish form as a matrix. Still the main element is color as the carrier of the visual context. Trough color expression, in an abstract way, I depicted my own experience of human moods. Recognizing human soul in these abstract views of the human psyche, it is perhaps possible to get to know the Moon's soul...
